The weekly ‘Poor Doors’ demo against segregated housing at No.1 Commercial Street in Aldgate is back on after a brief truce pending negotiations with the owners, which fell through due to the scumbags’ failure to consider anything beyond cosmetic changes. The building has posh entrances on the main street for rich residents, and a separate side entrance down a dingy alley for it’s poorer occupiers.

For 8 months the building has been the site of a weekly protest. Last Thursday organisers at Class War were told to remove their banner featuring the four major party leaders with the ‘ALL FUCKING WANKERS’ slogan underneath, or face arrest. The Met. police backed down after a stand off, but will be back on Thursday; how that goes may have implications for other protests. The Met allege the banner was offensive, but could not find anyone other than themselves who were offended by it – a requirement under the law.

The demos are every Thursday, 6-7pm at No. 1 Commercial Street Aldgate East – come and defend your right to swear and fight social segregation!
