In the beginning of March, the squat Mummola, in the east of Helsinki, was threatened with eviction. In the morning of Tuesday 3rd March, the cops and the Mayor’s lackeys of Helsinki tried to evict the squat, in vain. The support of many people on site prevented the authorities to achieve their aims.
In the morning of Wednesday 4th March, the Major’s lackeys came with a type of crane to cut the electricity to the squat. In the early afternoon, the cops arrived to help the Mayor’s lackeys to do their dirty work.
On Tuesday 10th March, again in the morning, riot cops attacked the Mummola squat… The eviction was followed by the destruction of the house [see photos].
That same evening in Helsinki, an unauthorised demonstration involving about 150 people was held in solidarity with the evicted squatters. Bulbs of Paint were thrown at police, police cars had their windows smashed.
The squat Mummola existed as an obstacle to capitalist and authoritarian urban space, as part of a global movement of autonomous spaces. There will be more!

Helsinki (Finlande): expulsion du squat Mummola
Début mars, le squat Mummola, situé à l’est d’Helsinki, était menacé d’expulsion. Le matin du mardi 3 mars, les flics et des employés de la mairie d’Helsinki ont essayé d’expulser le squat, en vain. Le soutien de nombreuses personnes sur place a empêché les autorités d’arriver à leurs fins.
Le matin du mercredi 4 mars, des employés de la mairie arrivent avec une sorte de grue pour couper l’électricité au squat. En début d’après-midi, les flics arrivent pour aider les employés de la mairie dans leurs basses oeuvres.
Mardi 10 mars, toujours dans la matinée, les flics anti-émeute ont attaqué le squat Mummola… L’expulsion a été suivie de la destruction de la maison.
Le soir-même à Helsinki, une manif sauvage réunissant environ 150 personnes a eu lieu en solidarité avec les squatters expulsé-e-s. Des ampoules de peinture ont été jetées sur la police, des voitures de police ont eu leurs fenêtres brisées.
Le squat Mummola se vivait comme un obstacle à l’espace urbain capitaliste et autoritaire, dans le cadre d’un mouvement mondial d’espaces autonomes. Il y en aura d’autres !
