Norfolk: ‘Not so fast & furious’ cop cars get trashed

It’s probably not the type of police chase that would make a thrilling scene in an action film.

But the damage done to three police cars after a low-speed pursuit with a stolen dumper truck in Norfolk is no laughing matter.

Two cars – a Ford Focus and a Volvo – were written off and while a BMW was seriously damaged after the 37 mile chase along A-roads at an average speed of 18.5mph.

Norfolk police estimate the cost of the damage to the cars, which were marked vehicles, could be more than £50,000.

The chase lasted a whole two hours on Monday afternoon – as the dumper truck travelled at a snail’s pace from Cringleford on the outskirts of Norwich to Brandon in Suffolk.
