18 special operation police and soldiers were killed as a result of actions conducted by Civil Defense Units (YPS) in Şırnak, İdil and Sur on 31 January and 1 February.

The General Coordination of Civil Defense Units (Yekîneyên Parastina Sivilan-YPS) has released a statement about the actions conducted by their side against state forces in Şırnak, İdil and Sur. Accordingly, 18 special operation police and soldiers were killed as a result of actions on 31 January and 1 February.

İDİL

The statement reported that YPS-Jin (Civil Defense Units of Women) conducted an action in solidarity with Cizre resistance in Turgut Özal neighborhood of Şırnak’s Hezex (İdil) district at 10:15 on 31 January. One armored vehicle was destroyed in the action which left 6 special operation police dead and one other wounded. Two more special operation members were killed in 2 other assassination actions in the same neighborhood.

ŞIRNAK

Regarding another action in Şırnak city centre, the statement said YPS units targeted an armored police vehicle that attempted to enter Dicle neighborhood at 10:00 on 31 January. The police vehicle was forced to retreat with a damage.

SUR

YPG General Coordination gave the following details regarding the actions conducted by their units in Amed’s Sur district which left 10 members of Turkish forces dead.

YPS members targeted a Turkish unit participating in an operation on Karadeniz street at 10:00 on 31 January. Two members of Turkish military were killed here, one of whom was affiliated to gendarme special operation.

Separately, one special operation police was killed near the Kurşunlu Mosque at 11:00 the same day.

YPS units also targeted a group of special operation in the same area at 15:00 afternoon. The group suffered heavy casualties but the number of casualties couldn’t be verified.

In another action, civil defense units surrounded and hit a group of soldiers in Yoğurt Pazarı area at 8 am yesterday. At least 6 soldiers were verified killed in clashes in this area.

One other member of Turkish forces was killed in an assassination action at 16:30 yesterday afternoon.
