Popular resistance for self-rule endures genocidal attacks of the Turkish state for the 67th day in Amed’s central Sur district.

Six neighborhoods protected by local self-defense force YPS and YPS-Jin are being targeted by heavy attacks and random artillery fire since last night.

Civilian Defense Units (Yekineyên Parastina Sivîl, YPS) have immediately responded to the attacks, which resulted in clashes in the areas of Kurşunlu Mosque, Yoğurt Pazarı and Hasırlı neighborhood.

At least 8 soldiers were killed and many others were wounded in clashes going on in the mentioned areas since yesterday. The district is witnessing an intense mobilization of Turkish ambulances carrying casualties to the military hospital. Sounds of huge blasts and arms are shaking almost the entire city.

While six neighborhoods are currently under curfew across Sur neighborhood, the other neighborhoods also remain under a state of siege with every single person being subject to ID and criminal record check by Turkish forces. Streets are still targeted by random fire, in spite of which people remain in their neighborhoods.
