HPG said more than 20 soldiers were killed in the action conducted by guerrillas on the Gendarmerie outpost in the triangle area between Qoser, Derik and Viranşehir last night.

HPG (People’s Defense Forces) Press Office has announced the results of the expansive action conducted by guerrillas in Derik district of Mardin last night in memory of Derik and Nusaybin martyrs.

Accordingly, the sabotage action was carried out at 00:50 at May 4 night, leaving 3 watchtowers in the Gendarmerie Command destroyed, and a large part of the outpost building and main entrance area demolished.

HPG said more than 20 soldiers died and at least 40 others were wounded here, and casualties were removed from the scene with dozens of ambulances.

The statement added that Turkish troops started an operation in the area after the guerrilla action.
