On the night of Wednesday, February 24, Jorge Emilio Muñoz Esquivel, George or “Yorsh” was arrested outside the university campus in Mexico City. Then he was accused of drug dealing by the Attorney General of the Republic (PGR). The official version was repeated ad nauseam by all government media (starting with La Jornada and ending the UNAM’s own dean’s office). When Jorge briefly left university campus that night to accompany some friends who were leaving, he was not carrying anything: no backpack, probably no sweater or jacket, because he planned to return quickly. The so-called “load” of drugs the PGR charged him with, either never existed or was planted on him on the way to their offices after being kidnapped.

El día de ayer, 1 de marzo, se efectúo la audiencia de pruebas en un juzgado de la Ciudad de México. En ella se presentaron testimonios que desmienten la versión de la PGR sobre la manera en que fue detenido el compañero. Mediante una video conferencia Jorge escuchó la audiencia, y se tuvo la oportunidad de verlo y saber que efectivamente se encuentra en el penal de Hermosillo. El ministerio público federal tiene hasta el domingo 06 de marzo para determinar si existen suficientes pruebas para sujetarlo a proceso. El aislamiento al que pretenden someter a Jorge es muy duro debido a las condiciones en los penales de máxima seguridad, siendo el de Hermosillo de los más nuevos y mejor vigilados. Además el hecho de haberlo mandado a una prisión a más de 2 mil kilómetros de la Ciudad de México es un intento más para aislar al compa y dificultar el apoyo y la solidaridad.
