E’ una storia di sorrisi, amicizie, aspre lotte e lacrime.: chi a questa storia si avvicina avverte con forza il sapore della dignità che traspira dalle parole di chi è stato partecipe di queste stagioni.

Loro vogliono essere i nostri padroni, noi non vogliamo essere né servi né padroni. Per questo ci hanno rinchiuso, per questo siamo evasi. Per questo che abbiamo rischiato libertà, morte, isolamento totale. Per questo abbiamo ucciso un mercenario. Ma l’assassinio è lo Stato, addestratore di servi volontari, cittadini-soldati, poliziotti e altri portatori di divisa. Di cui alcuni sono dei robot senza alcun istinto di conservazione, che, nelle prigioni dei loro padroni torturano e infieriscono contro la più fondamentale dignità umana.

For all of its many flaws, I love Earth First! and most of the many projects that it has inspired, and I say that as someone fully aware of all the mistakes that have been made along the way. Those errors- everything from alliances with open racists like Ed Abbey to articles cheerleading famine in Africa- are ultimately what makes the history of Earth First! such a valuable roadmap for modern revolutionaries. Earth First!’s fuck-ups are at times so glaring that my hope is, after examining them, there is no way they could be made again.

Laudelino Iglesias Martinez left prison on the 9th of August 2004 after spending more than 23 years in Spanish cells. He is one of the well-known social rebels and anarchists imprisoned in Spain, participating in the revolutionary organisation of prisoners who were refused amnesty by the state after the death of Franco, and continuing to struggle against isolation and against the many abuses of a brutal incarceration system. Laudelino spent many years suffering at the hands of fascist screws in the infamous FIES units but never stopped fighting.In autumn 2005 Laude began a European tour to spread information about past and current resistance to the repressive state apparatus that is the penal system, and to encourage solidarity with the many free and strong individuals who are currently behind bars.This short pamphlet is a transcript of a talk he gave at Bradford 1in 12 Club in October 2005 where he was accompanied by an activist from the Spanish prisoner support group Salhateka. Comme mes vieux camarades d’école, je serais aujourd’hui certainement marié et avec des enfants, obligé de travailler dix heures par jour pour faire vivre une famille. Crevé après le travail, je resterais là à fixer cette boîte idiote, confortablement assis en pantoufles, pour ensuite m’en aller au lit, mort de fatigue et détruit… Aujourd’hui, je ne serais probablement pas en prison.
Mais même s’il était possible de revenir en arrière, je ne changerais pas d’un
millimètre la route que j’ai choisie. Que serait-il advenu de moi si la lumière
de la lutte n’avait pas éclairé mon chemin ? »
