While the Mikmaq anti-fracking struggle on the east coast has subsided for the time being (“SWN Resources Canada is ending its exploration work, but will return in 2015″), the RCMPigs and other state institutions are doing their best punish the Warriors and others who have engaged in this proud resistance. Continued actions, letters, fundraisers and other solidarity efforts are important in the wake of repression.

Introducing Black Seed – a new anarchist publication
It has been almost 6 years since the last issue of Green Anarchy. During its 25-issue run, the magazine brought green anarchist ideas to North America and the world. It succeeded as an incubator of ideas and a real provocation for those both inside and outside of the anarchist milieu. In the intervening years, even with drastic changes in terms of green capitalism, technological advancement, and an ever-worsening ecological crisis, green anarchist and anti-civilization ideas have not been terribly visible.

Since the spring of 2013, the Mi’kmaq, along with Native and non-Native allies, have been resisting exploratory testing by SWN Resources Canada in New Brunswick. SWN, a Houston, Texas-based company, is searching for deposits of natural gas in shale rock formations. If they are successful and find significant deposits, they will then attempt to extract this gas using the process of fracking.
