A Corporate Mineral-Security Complex in Peru
Peru is a mining conflict country. In September of this year, the Defensoría del Pueblo (National Ombudsman Office) reported 223 social conflicts in September alone, with more than two thirds of them linked to minerals. The report also registers 196 dead and 2,369 injured in disputes over natural resources from 2006 to 2011. The database of the Latin American Observatory of Mining Conflicts (OCMAL) registers 34 cases across Peru. Even though the State has increased its presence in some mining areas and has its own Social Conflict Administration Office, the front line often becomes the ugliest side of corporate-community relations.

As two military-style helicopters touch down in a remote village in the jungles of Ecuador, masked men with guns hop out and scurry into a one-room schoolhouse. Inside they capture their target: a 6-year-old girl who doesn’t speak their language and can’t even guess why they are kidnapping her. They carry the terrified child, Conta, into the belly of one of the helicopters and it quickly rises up and away. Inside a thing she has only ever known as a screaming demon that roars across the sky, she is flown to a nearby city. There, she is taken by these armed strangers to a hospital that is a teeming petri dish of germs for which she has no immunity, since she has never been in a city before.

Nueva fuga tóxica en contenedores de la empresa minera Oro Griego en el Pireo
El miércoles 11 de diciembre de 2013 en el puerto del Pireo se detectaron fugas en contenedores de la empresa minera Oro Griego (Elinikós Jrisós) que contenían condensados de arsenoririta. Los contenedores estaban cargados en el buque de carga Ravena que estaba amarrado en el puerto comercial de Atenas, el Pireo, el mayor puerto en el territorio del Estado griego. La carga había llegado al puerto unos días antes con el barco Paris y su destino final era un puerto de China.

Persecución judicial de 15añero por participar en manifestación antiminera (es/gr)
El terrorismo de Estado contra la lucha contra la instalación de una minería de oro en Calcídica continúa. Más de un año después de la manifestación antiminera del 21 de octubre de 2012 en Calcídica las autoridades judiciales persiguen a un 15añero de Komotiní, por haber participado en aquella manifestación. Sigue el comunicado del local anarquista Utopia A.D sobre este caso.

Policía atacó con balas de goma a acampantes contra Monsanto
Veinte efectivos de la policía provincial y diez de la Guardia de Infantería atacaron esta mañana a quienes sostienen el acampe contra Monsanto en Malvinas Argentinas. A las 9:30 se presentaron para hacer ingresar al predio a cinco trabajadores de mantenimiento, y ante la negativa de los vecinos iniciaron la represión. Hubo ocho heridos. El bloqueo no fue desalojado.
