alienation

Insurrectionary anarchism is not an ideological solution to all social problems, a commodity on the capitalist market of ideologies and opinions, but an on-going praxis aimed at putting an end to the domination of the state and the continuance of capitalism, which requires analysis and discussion to advance.  We don’t look to some ideal society or offer an image of utopia for public consumption.  Throughout history, most anarchists, except those who believed that society would evolve to the point that it would leave the state behind, have been insurrectionary anarchists.

An Interview with Rod Coronado (2003)

The inspiring Native American earth warrior and animal liberationist Rod Coronado paid a visit to Brighton a little while back. Finally free to speak after years on the run, in prison and then with parole conditions banning him from engaging in any political activity, he made the best of it by going on a speaking tour around the UK. Albany-Waterfront-and-Bulb-057-500x350

12.12.13 – A personal account of direct defense of people’s homes on the Albany Bulb on December 10th. This action comes shortly after Bulb defenders built rock barricades to halt police from entering the Bulb (see previous FireWorks feature), a squatter community and autonomous space known for its art and sculptures made out of the former landfill. Over the Thanksgiving holiday, residents and supporters organized a ‘Festival of Resistance’ at the Bulb which included workshops, film showings on land struggles and battles against gentrification, and art and history tours. The City of Albany has recently attempted to push Bulb residents into a ‘transitional shelter,’ which is made up of gender segregated jail-like bunk beds. Few have taken the city’s offer and many remain committed to staying in their homes of many years.
