NEWS DESK (DİHA) – The YPG (People’s Protection Units) Press Centre has issued a statement regarding the latest clashes to the south and east of Kobanê, saying there has been hand-to-hand fighting at 50 points.
It has also announced that a female fighter, Arîn Mirkan, carried out a suicide attack in Miştenur. The YPG said 74 gang members had been killed and 15 fighters had also lost their lives in clashes. The YPG also gave details of the identity of YPJ (Women’s Protection Units) fighter and Crew Commander Arîn Mîrkan, who sacrificed herself in an attack on gang positions in Miştenur.
Hand-to-hand fighting at 50 points
YPG reported that “Our forces are continuing to resist ISIS gang attacks on Kobanê, that are now in their 20th day. Since early this morning there has been hand-to hand fighting in the Megtel and Botan neighbourhoods to the south and east of the town. We have established that 74 gang members were killed in these clashes.”
15 YPG/YPJ fighters die
The statement said that 15 YPG/YPJ have died heroically resisting the gang attacks on Kobanê
Arîn Mirkan’s self-sacrifice stance of YPG’s resistance
“Our comrade Arîn, one of the 15 of our comrades who fell, carried out an action against the gangs, sacrificing her own life in the process. By this action she killed dozens of gang members and demonstrated the YPG and YPJ fighters’ determined resistance. If necessary, all YPG and YPJ fighters will follow her example, and the gangs will not be allowed to achieve their aim of taking Kobanê”, YPG underlined and gave the following details about the identity of the YPJ fighter;
