Contra Info is an international multi-language counter-information and translation node, an infrastructure maintained by anarchists, anti-authoritarians and libertarians who are active in different parts of the globe.
The project started its activities in early 2010 in Athens, aiming to diffuse moments of social war on the territory controlled by the Greek State into other languages, and respective moments from the rest of the world into Greek. Nevertheless, both action and its multilingual documentation can be expressed effectively only by negating such territorial restrictions; therefore, having abandoned that initial approach since 2011, we spread translations but also original material with reference to various locations, in an ongoing effort to disseminate the polymorphous anarchist offensive against the existent anywhere in the world.
Contra Info is neither an organisation nor a political affinity group. Comrades and initiatives who participate in our network interact with each other in a self-organised, anti-hierarchical manner, enabling the broadest possible support to anarchic and revolutionary tendencies in any given context. Each participant in Contra Info comes from a different background, sharing one’s own unique analysis and distinct understanding of a borderless struggle for individual and collective emancipation from any form of servitude. However we are no democrats, nor do we perceive counter-information means as platforms where statists, patriots of all sorts, journalists, or domination’s lackeys of any kind are allowed to occasionally vomit their oppressive propaganda. We are declared enemies of every type of nationalism, sexism, racism, statism, capitalism, reformism or other authoritarian perceptions. We stand against fatherlands and motherlands, against patriarchy, religion and traditionalism, against the techno-industrial system and exploitation, against the State/Capital and the Law. We fight for the destruction of prison-society, for factual solidarity with hostages of social war, and for human, earth and animal liberation.
We welcome everyone to send us original communiqués of direct action, updates from the streets, open letters from imprisoned and persecuted fighters, multimedia, posters, booklets, and so forth. No matter if we strongly agree or deeply disagree with any given views, we will be pleased to get the word out.
We believe that diverse actions and opinions of anarchists or dignified rebels across the world can only be expressed without sectarianism and exclusions. Thus, regardless of the polemics that may break out at a local or international level among various tendencies of anarchy, for us counter-information is a weapon which facilitates the coexistence between individuals or collectives that reveal a diversity of theory and practice toward freedom. What’s more, we perceive the functions of counter-information media in a non-centralised manner, as much as we believe that related webpages should be linked with one another, thus foster a complementarity between them, and produce activity with their own responsibility, instead of becoming a copycat version of others.
This project complements and supports a wider anarchist network and comradely undertakings worldwide (webpages, radios, editions, etc.), aiming for even just a minimum informal communication between all those that dedicate their energy to counter-information beyond national and linguistic borders.
The different blogs of Contra Info constitute one and the same project, with particular focus on translation. Ever since the beginning of our online activity, we refuse to spread news items which derive from corporate sources and media that express the dominant ideology. Furthermore we do not prioritise our material; consequential momentum and counter-information surges are generated by random initiatives, consistent contributions, and the particular interest of participants or contributors, far from specialisations. If we have firsthand knowledge of occurrences, we try to transmit an original content. However, most of the time, we do not re-publish texts, regardless of if we consider them important or interesting —that is, even if we want to translate them or we have already translated them in another language. We may republish material—always mentioning our source—only if we have something additional to offer to its diffusion, or we feel a specific matter is not well diffused, or is of extreme urgency. On the other hand, we gladly post original texts, translations and other material whenever we receive them directly, and as long as their content agrees with our ‘terms of publication’. We also particularly appreciate it when people forward texts or links for our information, but if the exact same items are already disclosed on other comradely webpages, we simply see no practical reason of reproducing them.
We encourage individuals, groups and initiatives worldwide to send us their feedback, and support our network with their vital participation.

Contra Info es un nodo internacional multilingüe de contrainformación y traducción, una infraestructura mantenida por anarquistas, antiautoritarixs y libertarixs activxs en diferentes partes del mundo.
El proyecto comenzó sus actividades a principios de 2010 en Atenas, apuntando a difundir en otros idiomas los momentos de la guerra social en el territorio controlado por el Estado griego y otros tantos del resto del mundo al griego. Sin embargo, tanto la acción, como su documentación multilingüe, solo se pueden expresar de forma efectiva negando esas restricciones territoriales, así que desde el 2011 abandonamos ese enfoque inicial y empezamos a difundir traducciones y/o material original con referencia a varias locaciones, en un esfuerzo constante por diseminar la ofensiva anarquista multiforme en contra de lo existente en cualquier parte del mundo.
Contra Info no es ni una organización ni un grupo de afinidad política. Lxs compañerxs y los proyectos que participan en nuestra red interactúan lxs unxs con lxs otrxs de una manera auto-organizada y antijerárquica, facilitando un apoyo lo más amplio posible a las tendencias anárquicas y revolucionarias en cualquier contexto determinado. Cada participante de Contra Info viene de puntos de partida diferentes, compartiendo su propio análisis y entendimiento únicos sobre una lucha sin fronteras por la emancipación colectiva e individual de cualquier forma de servidumbre. Sin embargo, ni somos demócratas ni entendemos los medios de contrainformación como plataformas donde se les permite vomitar su propaganda opresiva a estatistas, patriotas de cualquier tipo, periodistas u otros lacayos de la dominación. Somos enemigxs declaradxs de todo tipo de nacionalismo, sexismo, racismo, estatismo, capitalismo, reformismo y cualquier otra percepción autoritaria. Nos posicionamos en contra de las patrias y las matrias, contra el patriarcado, la religión y el tradicionalismo, contra el sistema tecno-industrial y la explotación, contra el Estado/Capital y la Ley. Luchamos por la demolición de la sociedad carcelaria, por la solidaridad de facto con lxs secuestradxs de la guerra social, y por la liberación humana, de la tierra y la animal.
Agradecemos que nos envíen comunicados originales de acciones directas, traducciones, actualizaciones desde las calles, cartas abiertas de luchadorxs presxs y/o perseguidxs, vídeos, afiches, panfletos y demás. No importa si estamos en profundo acuerdo o desacuerdo con cualquiera de las posturas dadas, estaremos encantadxs de difundir la voz.
Creemos que las distintas acciones y opiniones de anarquistas o rebeldes dignxs de todo el mundo solo se pueden expresar sin sectarismos ni exclusiones. Así, independientemente de las polémicas que puedan surgir a nivel local o internacional entre diversas tendencias de la anarquía, para nosotrxs, la contrainformación es un arma que facilita la coexistencia entre individuxs o colectivos que revelan una diversidad teórica y práctica hacia la libertad. Además, percibimos las funciones de los medios de contrainformación de una manera no centralizada, y también creemos que las páginas relacionadas deberían estar vinculadas, promover una complementariedad entre sí y producir material bajo su propia responsabilidad, en lugar de caer en el mimetismo y convertirse en versiones copiadas unas de otras.
Este proyecto complementa y apoya una red anarquista más amplia e iniciativas de compas de todo el mundo (páginas web, radios, ediciones, etc.), apuntando a una comunicación informal mínima entre todxs lxs que dedican su energía a la contrainformación, más allá de fronteras nacionales y lingüísticas.
Los varios blogs de Contra Info constituyen uno y el mismo proyecto, con enfoque particular en las traducciones. Desde el inicio de nuestra actividad en la red, nos negamos a difundir noticias que vengan de fuentes corporativas y medios que expresen la ideología dominante. Además, no priorizamos nuestro material; cualquier dinámica y flujo contrainformativo son generados por iniciativas aleatorias, contribuciones consistentes y el interés particular de lxs participantes o contribuidorxs, lejos de especializaciones. Si tenemos conocimiento de primera mano de sucesos, intentamos transmitir un contenido original. Sin embargo, la mayoría de las veces no republicamos textos, sin importar que los consideremos importantes o interesantes —así es, aunque queramos traducirlos, o si ya los hemos traducido a otro idioma. Quizás republiquemos material —siempre mencionando la fuente— solamente cuando tengamos algo adicional que ofrecer a su difusión o porque sentimos que un asunto específico no ha sido lo suficientemente bien difundido o porque es de extrema urgencia. Por otro lado, nos agrada publicar textos originales, traducciones y otros materiales cuando los hemos recibido directamente, siempre y cuando el contenido esté acorde a nuestras “condiciones de publicación“. También apreciamos, en particular, cuando nos envían textos o links para nuestra información, sin embargo, si exactamente los mismos contenidos ya han sido publicados en alguna de las páginas de compas, simplemente, no vemos razón práctica de reproducirlos.
Invitamos a individuxs, grupos e iniciativas de todo el mundo a enviarnos sus comentarios y que apoyen nuestra red con su participación vital.
