ŞIRNEX – At least six citizens have been wounded as Turkish state forces attacked the Şah neighborhood in the town of Cizre with mortars today.

For 33 days, Turkish state forces have maintained a condition of martial law in the town of Cizre. For days, tanks have been firing heavy artillery on homes in the town. Today, soldiers mounted a mortar assault on the Şah neighborhood.

One of the mortars struck a market, the only remaining site in the neighborhood where residents could find food. Six were wounded in the attack, three seriously. The wounded have been evacuated to the Cizre State Hospital.

Attacks have been ongoing in the Nur and Cudi neighborhoods since last night. Clashes also occurred in the Dağkapı neighborhood late last night.
