Police have raided the house of condolence for TAK militant Abdulbaki Sömer who carried out an self-sacrifice action against a Turkish military convoy in capital city Ankara on 17th February.

Police have raided the house of condolence for TAK militant Abdulbaki Sömer who carried out an self-sacrifice action against a Turkish military convoy in capital city Ankara on 17th February.

The house of condolence in Şehit Fırat neighborhood of Van’s central İpekyolu district was raided by police teams Tuesday afternoon. Kurdish militant’s father Musa Sömer and brother Nuri Sömer were both detained on grounds of “spreading propaganda for a terrorist organisation” with the banners hanged in the house. Both have been taken to Tuşba district police headquarters and are expected to be referred to the prosecutor’s office tomorrow.

The day before, father Musa Sömer had been detained and taken to Ankara after the TAK announcement that the action in Ankara had been conducted by a militant of theirs, which also provided the ID details of the mentioned fighter. Father Sömer was released after a DNA test which proved the perpetrator to be his son, contrary to the claims of Turkish officials that the blast was conducted by a YPG member from Syria.

Earlier today, police forces conducted raids on a number of houses in Yeni and Karşıyaka neighborhoods of the central İpekyolu district. 9 people were taken into custody for joining the condolence ceremony for TAK member Abdulbaki Sömer. These include 4 children of those detained in the operation. Detainees were taken to Van police headquarters.
