Greece: On the occasion of the upcoming festival of Democracy…

123

Go on! Go on, you men of the crowd! Go on, voters! To the polls…and stop complaining. It’s enough. Don’t try to inspire pity because of the fate you imposed upon yourselves. Afterwards don’t insult the Masters that you gave yourselves.

The voter is nothing but a failed candidate.

The people at the bottom — with small savings and small hopes, rapacious small merchants, slow-moving domestic folk — need a mediocre parliament that will bring together and make money from all that is vile in the nation.

So vote, voters! Vote! The Parliament emanates from you. A thing is because it must be, because it can’t be any other way. Create the Chamber in your image. A dog returns to its vomit. Return to your representatives…

Zo d’Axa, “To the Voters”

On the occasion of the upcoming elections on January 25, we express our opinion on a number of issues which although come to the surface because of the electoral festival set up by Democracy, end up concerning the very core of politics. And although it is not easy for us to deal with these matters without making ourselves dirty, we will try to do so.

So, on the 25th we will witness a competition between the brutal neo-liberal capitalism and a teratogenicity of the classic social democracy, on the one hand the managers of econimic ruin and on the other the leftist vendors of hope, an electoral “battle” which has been elevated to a historical challenge for this country by the media mob. As elsewhere, so in Greece, it is time for the whip to be replaced by the carrot. From our side, we do not have the slightest inclination to outline in detail the spectrum of the political map, this is not the objective of this text. We choose to talk about the root of the matter, the meaning of politics. On the contrary of the notion that conciders politics to be synonymous with parliamentary representation, it has to do with a much wider range of issues. First of all, politics are the management of social life and the problems arising from this and seek solutions, without this meaning that the only one who can give those solutions is necessarily a political party.

All issues arising in the context of social life, are interwoven with the basic pillars of domination such as civilization and the state. The elections are just the institutionalized political participation of the masses in Democracy, but not the only case of political action. For us, every project adjusted to the process of managing the existent is a political process, a process of enslavement, integration and domestication. The word politics is inextricably linked with the concept of the state. Speaking in terms of meaning, the citizen of a participatory regime is bearing the perception of management in his/hers conscience, and even the concept of “taking part” in that social whole that forms the base of that regime.

But let’s talk, more specifically, about that unbearable mass of voters. In any case we refer to political subjects, people fully intergrated into domination, with no vitality, people easily managed by and expendable for any superstructure like the state. The voter exists to perpetuate, to accept, to paly the same game with marked cards over and over again. Even in cases where the electoral circus is discredited by large parts of the masses, as it has happened in the past, the voter does not cease to be a social role, fully derived and supportive of both the social factory and statism. That person is the one that gives away the management of his/hers “life” to other people with sincerity, contrary to the hypocritical and motley crowd that refuses to play the role of the voter, citing the refusal of participation in the parliamentary process, while at the same time it develops the similar structures of political management in its imaginary. But for us it is clear: Politics remain inherently the same, even if the stable of parliamentarism gives its place to the commune, the local workers’ councils, the structures of the racial state or the elected councils of “anarchist” society.

The citizen and the voter are two interlinked social roles. No one not bearing political conscience cannot be a voter or a candidate and no voter cannot be a citizen. Ultimately the electoral cesspool is exactly this confirmation, an autistic game of meanings and the management of the management itself. For us, things are clear, an anarchist is not and never was a political subject. Anarchy, as it is naturally and deliberately against the management of society and the state, is deeply anti-politicali and also a-political, since it denies the very conscience of the citizen. For how would it be possible to have a conscience that could be anarchist and political at the same time? This would be inconsistent by definition. We understand all forms of management of the existent or of any alternative to it as an enemy, our only desire is total destruction. Whether one has a political conscience is a matter of choice and ideas. A conscious citizen is anyone who chooses to be one, whoever chooses to consider the management of the economy and production relations, the relationship with the state and the state of  the social swamp his/her “life”. For us, none of this can be called life, but a cancer and therefore we are eager to give them away to the managers of the citizens of the until we give them away to the fire.

Anarchy as we understand it, is not political. We as anarchists we are not political beings. Anarchy is the attack against politics, whether they are a conscience, a process, or an abstract theory. We’re giving away the elections to the mass of citizens who see their own failed ambitions or the saviors of tomorrow in the faces of the candidates, we’re giving away the elections to those “comrades” who base part of their political plan on the change of parliamentary terms and the forms of management, while at the same time they favour the change of the government.

My name is Worthless, as are my rival candidates.

I am blank, like many of the ballots that they persist in not counting, but which now belong to me.

My election is assured.

You understand that I am speaking frankly.
