Nikos Romanos, anarchist prisoner in Greece, was on hunger strike from the 10th of November until the 10th of December 2014. The judicial mechanisms refused his furlough request to attend university classes. In response to this, multiform actions of solidarity took place inside and outside the prisons of Greek democracy and internationally.

Anarchist comrade Nikos Romanos went on a hunger strike on 10/11, demanding the educational prison leaves he is entitled to by the laws of the system. As a sign of active solidarity, comrades Giannis MIhailidis (17/11), Andreas – Dimitris Bourzoukos (01/12), Dimitris Politis (01/12) and Ilias Karadouman went also on hungerstrike.
Nikos Romanos chose to use an extreme means of struggle by putting his own body as a barricade and his uncompromising will and desire for a breath of freedom outside the exterminating condition of imprisonment as a mound. It goes without saying, that we stand by him with actions and support his struggle to the end with every possible means, since we also reconize the totalitarian and vindictive conditions that give birth to and reproduce prison brothels.

n la mañana del jueves 11 de diciembre, algunes anarquistas de Madrid (Estado español) nos hemos concentrado frente a la embajada del Estado griego en solidaridad con la lucha desencadenada por Nikos Romanós con su huelga de hambre desde la cárcel, que levantó las calles de Atenas y provocó diversas acciones de apoyo en diferentes ciudades del mundo. Finalmente, este pasado miércoles 10 de diciembre, el Estado heleno se ha visto obligado a ceder a las exigencias de Nikos, quien reclamaba comenzar estudios universitarios presenciales, aun estando preso.

La enmienda votada en el Parlamento como su único destinatario, tuvo diferencias importantes respecto al primer anuncio del Ministro de Justicia, eventualmente a lo que se refiere a satisfacer mis demandas, – incluso si esto me implica “usar un brazalete electrónico”.
