The coming days will be full of intense emotion: the anniversary of Sebastian’s irreparable loss in December and already in November a year has passed since I was jailed.
I remember when I heard about Sebastian’s death, it was like a bucket of cold water (bad company in the cold nights of Madrid). The loss of a comrade is always a something horrible but now I am able to remember it and feel proud of having had such a dignified comrade.
We who are building a different reality must remember our brothers and sisters, otherwise only a pile of police reports and journalists’ obituaries will remain of them. The fall of an anti-authoritarian in this war on the existent cannot just be a cause of sadness, we are also called upon to follow his or her example; and in my case it is an immense joy to remember the beautiful lives of those who never bowed down in order to storm the heavens.
Even if it might seem repetitive, Angry lives in our thoughts. Distance separates us, feelings unite us.
I shall take advantage of this moment lost in memories to make a short analysis of my situation. I’ll begin by going over the reasons for my arrest.
On 13/11/13 the police captured me, my comrade and another 3 people; they charged us with placing an explosive device that detonated in October 2013 at the Basilica del Pilar (Zaragoza); conspiracy to commit another attack, which would allegedly have taken place at the Monastery of the Virgin in Montserrat (Barcelona); and belonging to an armed gang. All this on the basis of the antiterrorism law.
The organization they say we belong to is the Comando Insurreccional Mateo Morral, a group that claimed the placing of two devices: the one at the Cathedral of Almudena (Madrid) and the other that of the Basilica del Pilar (Zaragoza).
Strangely, the charges also include belonging to FAI-FRI and GAC (coordinated anarchist groups), while there is no reference to these acronyms in the claims for the attacks.
One of the main reasons for the action of the Spanish repressive forces is the reports provided by their Chilean colleagues. Since we (Francisco and I) put foot on Iberian soil, the Chilean police have been doing their utmost to avenge their ridicule following the ‘Caso Bombas’, where both of us were acquitted. The words of Sebastian Piñera, Chilean President at the time of our arrests, to the Spanish home minister prove what I’m saying.
The charges against Francisco and myself go far beyond whether or not we carried out the actions. Even the judicial apparatus admitted that the charges are politically motivated, the only thing certain they have is that we are anarchists.
I have never denied the ideas that I spread, and this is what they are punishing.
I won’t kiss their cross of repentance, and am quite calm as I am convinced that I struggle for more noble ideals and that they will never stop anti-authoritarian ideas and practices.
Let’s arm our trajectory, without compromise or negotiation.
We won’t stop until we have torn down all the cages.
