Greece: Update on the hunger strikes of anarchist prisoners and the recent arrests

28/02: The cops arrest a 36-year woman, friend of the mother of the members of CCF Christos and Gerasimos Tsakalos, anarchist Christos Rodopoulos and a 32-year old man, friend of the brother of the member of CCF Giorgos Polydoros. The woman and the man were released under restrictive conditions after their presence before the persecutor, while Ch. Rodopoulos was detained in the maximum security prison of Domokos.

02/03: Anarchist Aggeliki Spyropoulou, the mother of the members of CCF Christos and Gerasimos Tsakalos and the wife of the latter one are arrested. The mother of the comrades is persecuted for harboring a fugitive (A. Spyropoulou was found in her house) and for being a member of the group along with G. Tsakalos’ wife. The two women refuse any link to the case. All three were detained in Korydallos prison.

06/03: The brother of the member of CCF Giorgos Polydoros is arrested and he will be presented before the persecutor on Tuesday, 10/03.

On 02/03, the imprisoned members of CCF started a hunger strike until death, demanding the release of their relatives and their friends that have nothing to do with the case. Aggeliki Spyropoulou went on hunger strike for the same reason, while anarchist prisoner Panagiotis Mihalakoglou abstains from prison meals in a gesture of solidarity.

On the same day, anarchists Antonis Staboulos, Tasos Theofilou, Fivos Charisis, Argiris Dalios and Giorgos Karagianidis (members of the Network of Fighting Prisoners), the imprisoned members of the Revolutionary Struggle Nikos Maziotis and Kostas Gournas and the member of the 17th November Dimitris Koufontinas went on hunger strike demanding the abolishing of the aricles 187 (criminal organization) and 187A (terrorist organization), the law about commiting crimes hooded, the law concerning type C prisons, the release of the sentenced for being member of the 17th November, Savas Ksiros for health reasons and other demands.
