We look for an opening through the cracks

We are myriads as many as the excuses

The governmental Left knowing, at least inwardly, that the “intellectual and moral leadership” (in Gramscian terms) can not be achieved with retractions and vague promises gradually shifts the burden from the consensus on coercion. This strategy, as an authoritarian policy applies also to the intention of the proposal of the new bill concerning prisons. On the one hand, it actually introduces reforms that seem to reshape the system, while on the other hand unduly delays their proposition testing (fraudulently for many) the resistance of  the prisoners while there are clear doubts concerning their meaning and application as for example in a radio interview the minister hinted that there won’t be a prohibition of transfers which -at least for anarchistss- are a practice of targeted revenge (see the transfers to distant cities away from their family). That Left which has now the reins of the state, has given its credentials long ago. And as in the case of Hypatia and elsewhere, it juggles between people’s and civil justice, limited to verbal intentions and kept away from painful conflict practices, has kept balances representing a typical bourgeois party. This is what they seek from the imprisoned anarchists as well.To make them fall back and postpone their struggle so that they achieve an exemplary enforcement and political victory. But the Anarchist struggle does not keep balances or requirements. It openly expresses its refusal and is not afraid to fight with whatever weapons it has. The inmates in prisons fight with their bodies, the prisoners of society occupy authoritarian buildings stating clearly the will, strength and intensity of their fight.

The rest of Greek society, being traditional, conservative and highly structured with harsh authoritarian entanglement and exploitation networks, remains far behind from the diversity and complexity of other liberal societies and thus can not contribute to the achievement of broader democratic principles (freedom) even in bourgeois conditions. Therefore it neither wants nor can ιτ identify or assist the struggle of the anarchists as to the satisfaction of the demands of the imprisoned hunger strikers. The latter know and so do also the comrades in solidarity from outside prison that the squatings of buildings and other actions are not directed at them but to those, the few and yet so many, people who have not forgotten the color of fire and the smell of freedom. But in what do the fighters succeed? And if we assume that their main demands are met, does it not mean that these are simply limited minor improvements and prisons as buildings, system and method will remain?

But of course, as Passamani would say, what is important are the relationships and methods forged in the course of the struggle, which has always been the foundation of all rebellions. The attacks against the authoritarian tool of prison are also individual attacks on each prison and especially to the mentality of surrender and vanity. This is the great benefit of the people in struggle who cause dangerous cracks to the State and who are seeking  and will continue to seek the “opening”.
