If the judicial authorities have the power to make the world succumb to their laws and what’s more to the overcoming of laws, this doesn’t prove that quality prevails, but rather that they can turn the world into Kafkaesque hell.
There are certain occurrences that make you stand before yourself and ask yourself, what is it that gives meaning to life? What is it that will make you continue to believe that it’s truly worth walking on earth?
Today, such an occurrence also happened to me.
Today, after 30 days in pretrial detention, I received the decision on my conditional release. Tomorrow morning, I could pass through the prison door and leave. I won’t do it. I won’t do it because I believe that a human is meant to do everything for another human; that’s the beauty of them. I cannot feel any joy for my own release from prison, so long as the unjust and vindictive remand of Evi Statiri [the companion of Gerasimos Tsakalos] continues, while the competent authorities know with absolute certitude that there’s no incriminating evidence against her.
I could not shut my door upon the chased Angeliki [Spyropoulou]. In the same way, I can’t turn my back on the unjustly remanded Evi. Even more so because, so long as this pretrial detention continues, the hunger strike of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire members goes on; a hunger strike which enters its 31st day, a hunger strike which was launched exactly because of this pretrial detention of relatives.
The medical reports reveal that the health condition of the hunger strikers is very critical.
Now, not just every day but every single hour weighs them down. However, the strikers’ critical condition is not only highlighted in medical reports; the deliberate and systematic concealment of this very fact by the mass media also weighs heavily upon them. What does the judiciary want? Because, from what I hear, they hold the entire case in their hands. Do they want them dead, then? What is the role of the mass media? To get to multi-day work only after deaths occur?
Because that’s only when they start talking.
I do not consider that my decision to stay in prison is anything close to sacrifice towards Evi and the 11 people of the CCF, who continue the hunger strike.
I will always be accountable to this new generation of people because I, like all mothers and fathers of my age, could not deliver a better world to our sons and daughters. Instead, we made or permitted the making of a world where it’s being machinated and propagandised in every possible manner that the meaning of our days is the economic subsistence of society, that the great issue of people’s life is to settle loans. They don’t want to leave even a chink of hope that life means something else. It seems the sources of real, substantial life and creation have dried up, and we live in times where, in strange places such as prisons, you’re able to meet people that “prelude the euphoria of deserts, the violet flavored drinking seawater, the eternal spring…”.
I will remain in prison until the day when, along with Evi, we will step out the exit door, and our joy will be double because that’ll be the day when the strike of our loved ones will end.
Hunger strike is an ultimate emergency alert sent out to all forms of Power so that they don’t dwell on formal procedures, or the pursuit of revenge and extermination against any “adversaries”, but to remind themselves of the real sources of life and creation.

Nota de Contra Info: Como informamos ayer, las autoridades judicialesaprobaron la solicitud de excarcelación de Athena Tsakalou, madre de los miembros de CCF Christos y Gerasimos Tsakalos, pero rechazaron la solicitud de excarcelación de la esposa de Gersasimos Tsakalos. Hoy, primero de abril, se hizo saber que Athena Tsakalou rechaza su excarcelación hasta que se libere también a la esposa de Gerasimos. Sigue un breve extracto de su carta con la que hace pública su decisión:
[…] Luego de 30 días en prisión preventiva, me entregaron hoy la decisión de excarcelación. Mañana por la mañana podría pasar la puerta de la cárcel y salir. No lo voy a hacer. No lo voy a hacer porque creo que la belleza del ser humano es hacer todo lo posible para el otro ser humano. No puedo sentir ninguna alegría para mi excarcelación mientras que Evi Statiri sigue bajo la injusta y vengativa condición de la prisión preventiva, a pesar de que los encargados de la investigación saben que la verdad absoluta es que no hay alguna prueba incriminatoria en su contra.
Así como no podía cerrar la puerta a la perseguida Angeliki, no puedo ahora dar la espalda a Evi que está injustamente en prisión preventiva. Y sobre todo, porque mientras sigue en prisión preventiva, también sigue la huelga de hambre de lxs miembrxs de la Conspiración de Células del Fuego. Una huelga de hambre que está en su 31er. día, y que ha comenzado exactamente por causa de la imposición de la prisión preventiva a las familiares. […]

Τίτλος: Η κόλαση του Κάφκα
Αν η δικαστική εξουσία έχει τη δύναμη να κάνει τον κόσμο να υποκύπτει στους νόμους της και ακόμα περισσότερο στην υπέρβασή τους, δεν αποδεικνύει ότι η ποιότητα κυριαρχεί, αλλά ότι μπορεί να μετατρέψει τον κόσμο σε καφκική κόλαση.
Είναι κάποια γεγονότα που σε κάνουν να σταθείς μπροστά στον ίδιο τον εαυτό σου και να αναρωτηθείς, τί είναι αυτό που δίνει νόημα στη ζωή; Τί είναι αυτό που θα σε κάνει να συνεχίζεις να πιστεύεις πως αξίζει αληθινά να περπατάς πάνω στη γη;
Ένα τέτοιο γεγονός συνέβη σήμερα και σ’ εμένα.
Μετά από 30 μέρες προφυλάκισης, σήμερα παρέλαβα την απόφαση της αποφυλάκισής μου. Θα μπορούσα αύριο το πρωί να περάσω την πόρτα της φυλακής και να φύγω. Δε θα το κάνω. Δε θα το κάνω γιατί πιστεύω πως η ομορφιά του ανθρώπου είναι να κάνει τα πάντα για τον άλλον άνθρωπο. Δε μπορώ να νιώσω καμιά χαρά για τη δική μου αποφυλάκιση, όσο συνεχίζεται η άδικη κι εκδικητική προφυλάκιση της Εύης Στατήρη, για την οποία οι αρμόδιοι γνωρίζουν με απόλυτη αλήθεια ότι δεν υπάρχει γι’ αυτήν κανένα επιβαρυντικό στοιχείο.
Όπως δε μπόρεσα να κλείσω την πόρτα μου στην κυνηγημένη Αγγελική, έτσι δε μπορώ να γυρίσω την πλάτη μου στην άδικα προφυλακισμένη Εύη. Και πολύ περισσότερο γιατί, όσο συνεχίζεται αυτή η προφυλάκιση, παράλληλα συνεχίζεται και η απεργία πείνας των μελών της Συνωμοσίας Πυρήνων της Φωτιάς. Μια απεργία πείνας που διανύει την 31η μέρα μιας απεργίας πείνας, που ξεκίνησε γι’ αυτές ακριβώς τις προφυλακίσεις των συγγενών.
Όπως δείχνουν τα ιατρικά ανακοινωθέντα, η κατάσταση της υγεία των απεργών πείνας είναι πολύ κρίσιμη.
Τώρα, όχι μόνο κάθε μέρα, αλλά και κάθε ώρα μετράει. Και δεν είναι μόνο τα ιατρικά ανακοινωθέντα που επισημαίνουν την κρισιμότητα της υγείας των απεργών, εξίσου βαριά μετράει και η σκόπιμη και συστηματική αποσιώπηση του γεγονότος από τα ΜΜΕ. Τί θέλει η δικαστική εξουσία; Γιατί απ’ ό,τι ακούω είναι στα χέρια της η όλη υπόθεση. Θέλει, λοιπόν, νεκρούς; Ποιος είναι ο ρόλος των ΜΜΕ; Να αποκτήσουν εργασία πολλών ημερών μετά από θανάτους;
Γιατί τότε μόνο αρχίζουν να μιλούν.
Δε θεωρώ την απόφασή μου να παραμείνω στη φυλακή ούτε καν θυσία απέναντι στην Εύη και απέναντι στους 11 ανθρώπους της ΣΠΦ, που συνεχίζουν την απεργία πείνας.
Θα είμαι πάντα υπόλογη απέναντι σ’ αυτή τη νέα γενιά των ανθρώπων γιατί κι εγώ, όπως όλες οι μάνες και οι πατέρες της ηλικίας μου, δεν καταφέραμε να παραδώσουμε στους γιους μας και στις κόρες μας έναν κόσμο καλύτερο. Αντίθετα, φτιάξαμε ή αφήσαμε να φτιαχτεί ένας κόσμος όπου με κάθε τρόπο μεθοδεύεται και προπαγανδίζεται πως το νόημα των ημερών μας είναι η οικονομική υπόσταση της κοινωνίας, πως το μέγα ζήτημα της ζωής των ανθρώπων είναι η διευθέτηση των δανείων. Δε θέλουν ν’ αφήσουν ούτε μια χαραμάδα ελπίδας πως ζωή σημαίνει κάτι άλλο. Φαίνεται πως οι πηγές της πραγματικής, της ουσιαστικής ζωής και δημιουργίας έχουν στερέψει και είναι εποχές που, σε παράξενους τόπους, όπως είναι οι φυλακές, μπορείς να συναντήσεις ανθρώπους που «προαναγγέλουν την ευφορία των ερήμων, το πόσιμο θαλάσσιο νερό με γεύση βιολέτας, την αιώνια άνοιξη…».
Θα παραμείνω στη φυλακή μέχρι τη μέρα που, μαζί με την Εύη, θα δρασκελίσουμε την πόρτα εξόδου και η χαρά μας θα είναι διπλή γιατί την ίδια μέρα θα τελειώσει και η απεργία των δικών μας αγαπημένων ανθρώπων.
Η απεργία πείνας είναι ένας ύψιστος συναγερμός προς όλες τις μορφές εξουσίας να μην ξεχαστούν στις τυπικές διαδικασίες, να μην ξεχαστούν στην άσκηση εκδίκησης και εξόντωσης των όποιων «αντιπάλων», να θυμηθούν τις πραγματικές πηγές ζωής και δημιουργίας.
