Stop the racist EDL • 1st August 2015 • North Shields

These are new times and there have been hardships and problems created by all the parties, and racists like UKIP are no different.

The North East Anti Fascists state that looking for the ‘outsiders’, using them as scapegoats and promoting intolerance offer no solutions whatsoever.

It is not the Migrant workers, immigrants, asylum seekers and members of any one faith who are responsible for financial crisis, hardship, cuts and unemployment. IT IS the Banks, the capitalist class, and their politicians.

The bosses are not stupid however, they get their newspapers and media to promote divide and rule, so an increase in anti-Muslim Islamophobia and other forms of racism in Britain and the rest of Europe are deliberately created. Our task is to turn this around, and target the real causes of the problems people face in everyday life.

The North-East has experienced migration for hundreds and thousands of years, and once Irish people (some would say still are) were viewed as the enemy. The North East prides itself on being friendly, we pride ourselves on the diversity of our communities and our mixed heritages. Long may this continue.

The racist English Defence League is promoting its hate filled message into North Shields on 1st August 2015 and is bringing in others by bus.

We believe that such a development will only stir up division and hatred, which inevitably will besmirch the name of our area. We believe that the EDL must be stopped – kick them out of North Shields.

We intend to protest and to send a clear and simple message: the EDL is not wanted in North Shields, the north east or anywhere else.

We must all stand together in unity in the face of Islamophobia, anti-Semitism and all forms of racism and fascism – the real enemy is not powerless minorities, but big business, their media and government who create the situation. We stand with all those fighting back against racists who divide us against the powerful. The EDL are class traitors, doing the bosses work.
