ANF – Amed

An ongoing siege and onslaught by Turkish military and police forces in the Silvan district of Amed (Diyarbakir) has left two people dead and seven others wounded since the imposition of a curfew early this morning. The wounded are being denied access to hospital by police forces.

Attacks by Turkish security forces have intensified in the neighborhoods of Konak, Mescit and Tekel.

Reports from local sources in the Konak neighborhood say that six civilians wounded in the attacks remain outside the Hz. Ömer mosque in the district. Local people say that security forces have also opened fire on the people who tried to go near the mosque to take the wounded.

Police forces have also prevented a delegation of local administrators including co-mayors from entering the Konak neighborhood to reach the wounded civilians.

Turkish forces are also reported to be launching mortar fire on the neighborhoods, trying every way possible to enter, but locals are resisting.

Some mortar shells have hit houses in the neighborhood and started a fire in the area. The building of KURDİ-DER (Kurdish language association) is also reported to be on fire.

People have begun a tweeting campaign on Twitter under the hashtag #SilvanUnderAttack to raise awareness about the seige and killings.
