Two more free from the threat of extradition

This afternoon the extradition order for two more of the free5 students was rejected by the court. Once again a number of people spoke in defence of the students facing extradition while the other side pushed for them to be sent to Italy. In the end the court decided against the European Arrest Warrant. So far the threat of extradition has been removed for four of the five students.

The threat has not yet been removed completely however as there is one more court appearance on Monday for another of the defendants. While the court was in session earlier today a number of people from the solidarity assembly for the students occupied the ASOEE university in Athens to show their support. There is a call for an assembly at the occupied ASOEE today at 8pm and for solidarity with the last of the students to face the court on Monday 11/1 at 9:30am.

First victory for the students

The recent hearing concerned 2 of the 5 students- these at least, will not be extradited to Italy, and will have their restrictive movement conditions dropped. The decisions for the others remaining will follow soon…
