A las 8:15 de la mañana del 11 de Febrero del 2016, el personal del Centro de Reinserción Social de Gendarmería (C.R.S) de Santiago Sur se percató de una mochila sospechosa en el exterior del edificio ubicado en la calle Arturo Prat 1490 en la intersección con la calle Victoria.
Los asustados funcionarios del organismo represor llamaron a la policía, acudiendo el Grupo de Operaciones Policiales Especiales, GOPE quien desalojo la cuadra y trabajo cerca de 4 horas en la mochila.
Según la prensa se informó que al interior de la mochila se encontraba un artefacto explosivo casero conformado por un extintor repleto con pólvora negra, con clavos a modo de esquirlas, más un sistema de relojería.
El artefacto habría sido puesto durante la noche en el perímetro del edificio de gendarmería justo en un punto ciego donde las cámaras de vigilancia no habrían captado el momento.
Por problemas que se desconocen, el artefacto no se habría activado, siendo encontrado y desactivado por la policía sin que pudiese estallar y dañar la estructura del control.
Tras el operativo policial, se evacuaron los 45 miembros de gendarmería y cerraron las oficinas del C.R.S que se dedica a labores de control y represión de los procesados.
En el lugar no habían panfletos que se adjudicaran la acción y hasta el momento ningún grupo se ha adjudicado el atentado.
Chile: Bomb deactivated at gendarmerie offices in Santiago
At 8:15am on February 11, 2016, the staff at the center for Social Reintegration of Gendarmerie (CRS) in Santiago Sur noticed a suspicious backpack outside the building at 1490 Arturo Prat street near the intersection of Victoria street.
Frightened repressor agency officials called the police. Police Special Operations Group, GOPE attended the scene and evacuated the entire block and worked for about 4 hours on the backpack.
According to the press it was reported that the bag contained a homemade explosive device consisting of a fire extinguisher filled with black powder, nails added for shrapnel and a timing device attached.
The device would have been placed during the night in a blindspot on the perimeter of the gendarmerie building where the surveillance cameras would have been unable to capture the moment.
For reasons that are unknown, the device was not activated and was found and deactivated by police before it could explode and damage the structure of control.
After the police attended, 45 members of the genarmerie were evacuated and the offices of the CRS that devotes itself to tasks of control and repression of the accused were closed.
At the site, no leaflets explaining the action were found and so far no group has claimed the attack.
