Silan Ozcelik is on trial for ‘terrorism’ for allegedly trying to make her way to support the Kurds defending Rojava from ISIS. She is currently on remand in Holloway Prison. Today a preliminary hearing in her case was held at the Old Bailey. 18 year old Silan appeared by video link from prison and her lawyer made an application for bail. However, her application was refused.

The Kurdish community and supporters of the Kurdish struggle are incensed at the arrest and imprisonment of 18 year old Shilan (Silhan) Ozcelik, who is accused of wanting to join the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) to fight the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL/ISIS).
