From Here On In

From Here On In is an irregular publication of rebellious news and ideas based in, but not limited to the Bristol area. Approaching its third edition, its informal network of contributors aim to inform and agitate towards the complete destruction of this society. To elaborate more, here is an excerpt from the first edition’s editorial:

We want a complete break with the banalities, brutalities and outright assaults on our everyday lives.

The social explosions of August, 2011 (as well as April, here in Bristol) presented something to us: a generalised rejection of society as it stands. Without putting words into the mouths of others, the violent lootings, burnings and property damage, combined with an offensive assault on the servants of state demonstrated the passionate desire to destroy the architecture of capital.

But the motive for producing this publication did not start in August, nor with any other ‘event’. Every individual involved, be it through direct editorial involvement or anonymous contribution, found a mutual understanding in one another: that to hold a rejection of this society in our hearts demands the active participation in its destruction.

To print, we have created a borderless and imposed A3 cover sheet pdf. The rest is in the format of an imposed A4 pdf which means the covers must be printed separately and printer settings will need to be set up differently. Don’t forget to select black and white! Hopefully we will figure out how to create a single A3 pdf to make the whole process a lot easier…

but for now (updated as of 03/10/12):

From Here On In #2 out now!

With articles on the developments and role of prison labour, as well as an interview with revolutionary anti-authoritarian prisoner, John Bowden. The dark(er) side of Bristol’s new mayor, George Ferguson. An insight into the processes commonly known as ‘gentrification’ around the wider Easton area, as well as information on the increase of intrusive rights given to landlords over tenants, and an analysis of the false dichotomy of ‘fascist’/’anti-fascist’, using the recent rise of the EDL as an example.

Find it on the streets of Bristol, in other hubs further afield, or online here:

“The desire to create one’s life upon one’s own terms, devoid of enforced coercion, is not born from a belief that all of life’s burdens will die with this society, but from a desire to live as free as possible. To learn to walk by walking; tripping, stumbling and even falling as we go. To have the space, time, critique and support of those we choose to spend our lives with to realise our strengths and weaknesses, limitations and capacities.”

From Here On In #3

From Here On In #3 is now available to view online!

Texts include: Festivals End – some sort of an editorial; Letters to the ´Editor´; In Memory of Mark Duggan; Prisons – The Most Unlawful Places on Earth; The Many Faces of Fascism; A Conversation in Brighton; Struggle or Starve and Communiques from Bristol.

Aimed at provoking discussion amongst those that refuse to accept society’s oppressive dogmas, those that will not ‘keep calm and carry on’, and those that wish to take action against the imposed restrictions upon their total freedom, From Here On In hopes to agitate locally, but with an understanding that oppression, be it social or economic, is global and fundamentally connected.

Critiques of this periodical are always welcome, and for the few that have followed its previous two releases many changes will be apparent. The layout has taken on a different face, a ‘Collateral News’ section has been introduced, documenting the daily rebellions against authority, work and the metropolis throughout the greater Bristol area, and with a change in authors, the written content will have inevitably taken on a different tone. A Points of Reference section has also been added so that, if you so wish, readers of this magazine can look further afield towards projects we find affinity with.
