Chile: On 14th of March, the prosecutor decided to convert Tamara Sol Farias Vergara’s charge from “aggravated burglary” to “aggravated homicide attempt which was aborted”. This change in the indictment against Sol can be seen as “favorable” as the range of penalties that can be decided are milder.
Greece: On 24th of March, a nationwide mobilization in greek prisons started against the new reform bill concerning the creation of type C prison facilities. According to the first measurements of the bill, there will be a special classification of prisoners into 3 types (A,B,C). Type C detainees, where political prisoners also belong, are denied the right to take a leave and their visiting and telephone contacts are limited. Moreover, special type C cells will be formed and the police will acquire permanent place inside the prisons.
