After the victorious hunger strike of the CCF, comrade Michalis Nikolopoulos has returned from the intensive care unit to his room on the 10th floor of Evangelismos hospital where he was before. During the night of hospitalization in the ICU, where he was moved for close monitoring due to the criticality of the situation, his pulse went down to 20 beats per minute(!) and his pressure to 6. The comrade escaped the immediate danger, his moral is good and according to doctors his heart manages to stabilize although everything was hanging by a thread. Still, he will remain in the hospital for several days, so that some more medical tests are made.

Giant Coal Excavator Occupied, Hambacher Forest, Germany

World’s-Biggest-Excavator

The Hambach Forest, in Southwest Germany, is the site of an ongoing forest and meadow occupation against the expansion of the adjacent lignite (brown coal) mine.

March 15th, 2015

In the night from Saturday to Sunday at about 00:30 am, activists of the anti-coal-movement have occupied an excavator inside the opencast-mine Inden. One person is locked on, three others have climbed the digger with harnesses. A banner reading “Lignite kills. Everywhere.” was dropped.

No System but the Ecosystem: Earth First! and Anarchism

There is a clear case to be made for the connection between ecology and anarchism. [1] Many philosophers, academics, and radicals have elaborated this over the past two centuries [2]. But reviewing the history of this theoretical relationship is not the goal here. The movement surrounding anarchism in the past 200 years has certainly included its fair share of theory, yet what has rooted anarchist ideas so deeply in human society is the prioritization of action. It is this action-based relationship between the ecological movement and anarchism that we explore.
