It is time, once again, for CKUW 95.9FM’s Annual FUNdrive!
Although Black Mask has been off-air for almost 3 months, I am personally reaching out BM’s group members to consider financially supporting Community Radio!
For more than 15 years, CKUW gave a bunch of Anarchists one hour a week (sometimes more than that back in the re-broadcast and 1.5 hour episode days!) to challenge Big Media. We took that very seriously. It was an incredible amount of time to help inform people about the myriad different perspectives that do not get covered by Big Media. We always strived to be more than soundbites.
And, that is exactly what CKUW is! Remember the old station slogan? Coined by, if I recall this correctly, Black Mask’s Patrick McGuire: Real People, Real Music, Real Ideas!
*Full disclosure: I might’ve gotten the order of the “Reals” mixed up there…
That idea is still going strong and has evolved into “More Voices, More Choices”! Which is a fantastic way to explain how accessible and inspiring an environment CKUW is! It has been on Community Frontlines for decades!
Being a volunteer based organization, CKUW is made up collectively by the voices both on-air and behind the scenes, striving to be a place for all voices to be heard, respected, and supported.
