New Zine: Mob Work: Anarchists in Grand Rapids, Vol. 4

We’re happy to announce the completion of the fourth and final volume of our set of zines on anarchist history in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Mob Work: Anarchists in Grand Rapids, Volume 4

explores relatively recent anarchist history, looking at the 1980s through to the 1990s.

As was the case in previous zines, we cover events and topics that have largely gone unexplored elsewhere, including anarchist efforts in Grand Rapids within the punk scene, participation in Anti-Racist Action and confrontations with white supremacists, organizing against police brutality, prisoner support via the Anarchist Black Cross, organizing Food Not Bombs, the newsletter Discussion Bulletin, and much more. Along with our look at activity in Grand Rapids, half of the zine is devoted to an overview of anarchist history in the United States during the same period, as information about activity during the era is often difficult to find. On a national level, we look at how anarchist activity continued to increase from the 1960s, discussing publishing projects, gatherings, street protests, counter-institutions, and new efforts like Anti-Racist Action and Earth First!

We also encourage you to check out volumes  12, and 3.

Finally, these zines were obviously based on the often limited information that we could find through various archives, anarchist newspapers, etc. If you have information and/or materials that we may have missed, please

get in touch.
