I reduci hanno sempre perseguitato i movimenti sociali. Reduci da battaglie considerate perdute, reduci da ideologie decomposte, reduci da utopie irrealizzate, tristi figuri che presentano la propria sconfitta personale come se si trattasse di una sconfitta storica allo scopo di trovare qualche pubblica giustificazione alla propria miseria umana.
