Monday evening, September 28, Indonesian Police shot two Senior High School Students in Gorong Gorong, Timika, West Papua. Around 7pm Kaleb Bogau (17 years old) was shot in the chest and died on the scene. Efrando Sabarofek (also 17 years old) was shot in the chest and leg and is in a critical condition in the Timika hospital.

Papouasie : Répression et exode

Des centaines de Papous ont fui leurs foyers suite à une opération militaire dans les hautes terres de Papouasie. La répression a eu lieu près de Grasberg – la plus grande mine de cuivre et d’or du monde. Le 7 janvier, des centaines de policiers et de soldats indonésiens ont pris d’assaut le village d’Utikini, suite au meurtre de deux officiers de police et d’un agent de sécurité de la mine. Des villageois ont rapporté que 116 Papous ont été arrêtés, dont 48 femmes et 3 enfants. Nombre d’entre eux ont été interrogés et torturés par la police. 12 sont toujours en garde à vue. Un villageois a reçu deux balles dans les pieds afin ’qu’il se tienne tranquille’. Les soldats et la police ont incendié des maisons et des tentes appartenant aux membres des tribus dani, amungme, damal et moni.

With a population of only 160,000 Bougainville has managed to close and keep closed one of the biggest copper mines in the world. Despite having to fight the Australian-armed Papua New Guinea (PNG) army, they have held their ground for twelve years with home made guns made out of water piping and planks, scavenged mine trucks and petrol made from coconuts.

Demonstrate To Free Papuan Political Prisoners (april 2 – London)

On 2 April 2014 from 12.00 to 13.00, the Free West Papua Campaign will take part in a demonstration outside the Indonesian embassy in London to protest the ongoing detention of over 70 political prisoners in West Papua and to call for their immediate and unconditional release. The demonstration is being organised by TAPOL and will also be attended by Amnesty International UK and Survival International.

Conflict Between Takalar Farmers and PTPN XIV Flares up – Farmer Shot by Police

The conflict between residents of Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi and state-owned plantation company PTPN XIV has flared up once again.

Unavoidable clashes between the people of North Polongbangkeng Sub-district and Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) on Monday morning (2/12/13) resulted in community member Yunus Daeng Empo receiving a bullet in his right thigh.
