El desarrollo de la tecnología en los últimos sesenta años – la industria nuclear, la cibernética y las técnicas de información relacionadas, la biotecnología y la ingeniería genética – ha producido cambios fundamentales en el terreno social. Los métodos de explotación y dominación han cambiado, y por esta razón las viejas ideas sobre la naturaleza de la clasey de la lucha de clases no son adecuadas para comprender la presente situación. El obrerismo de los marxistas y sindicalistas ya no puede ser imaginado como algo útil en el desarrollo de una práctica revolucionaria. Pero rechazar el concepto de clase no es tampoco una respuesta útil a esta situación, porque al hacerlo un@ pierde una herramienta esencial para la comprensión de la presente realidad y de cómo atacarla.

La explotación no sólo continúa, sino que se ha intensificado nítidamente después de la nueva tecnología. La Cibernética ha permitido la descentralización de la producción, extendiendo pequeñas unidades de producción a lo largo del terreno social. La automación ha reducido drásticamente el número de trabajador@s de producción necesari@s para un proceso de manufacturación particular. La cibernética además crea métodos para hacer dinero sin producir nada real, por tanto permitiendo al capital expandirse sin el coste del trabajo.
Una revuelta no-primitivista contra la Civilización
Si examinamos la mayor parte del debate actual en el ámbito anarquista respecto a la civilización, la tecnología, el progreso, el eco-anarquismo frente al anarcocomunismo, etc… Nos quedará la impresión de que la crítica a la civilización es algo que ha surgido sólo recientemente dentro del pensamiento anarquista y revolucionario. Pero esta impresión es falsa, y dañina para aquell@s de nosotr@s con una perspectiva anticivilizadora revolucionaria.
De hecho, un cuestionamiento revolucionario de la civilización, la tecnología y el progreso puede encontrarse a lo largo de todo el pensamiento revolucionario moderno. Charles Fourier expusó su socialismo utópico “Harmony” frente a la disonancia de “Civilización”. Un cierto número de los Románticos más radicales (Blake, Byron y Shelly entre otros) se mostraron claramente recelosos frente al industrialismo y su razón utilitarista.

For this reason, the peace movement must be rejected as a way of dealing with the current American call for war.
On the Mystical Basis of the “Neutrality” of Technology
There is an assumption popular among leftists and other radicals who still feel some attachment to the concept of progress or even to Marxian theoretical constructions that technology, as such, is neutral. The assumption is particularly amusing because those who hold it will accuse the critics of technology of having a mystical and ahistorical conception of it. What these apologists for technology claim is that the critics of technology promote “technological determinism”, making technology the central determining factor in social development, and thus losing sight of the social factor. They end up by proclaiming that the problems do not lie in the technological systems as such but in who manages them and in how they choose to utilize them.

Insurrectionary anarchism is not an ideological solution to all social problems, a commodity on the capitalist market of ideologies and opinions, but an on-going praxis aimed at putting an end to the domination of the state and the continuance of capitalism, which requires analysis and discussion to advance. We don’t look to some ideal society or offer an image of utopia for public consumption. Throughout history, most anarchists, except those who believed that society would evolve to the point that it would leave the state behind, have been insurrectionary anarchists.

Prison creates a society, a sort of community, and this society is not merely based on the sharing of a space. Prison is a specific sort of space defined in reference to its inhabitants, since it is only a prison because it is destined for prisoners, without whom it would be a mere building. What gives a common stamp to those who are brought together within its walls? Obviously the prison, since it is only by means of the prison that they are prisoners.
