June 11th @ SF 518 Valencia – us

Please join us in San Francisco on June 11th for the International Day of Solidarity with Marie Mason, Eric McDavid, and all Long-term Anarchist and Eco-Prisoners.

Marie Mason and Eric McDavid are prisoners of conscience, currently serving extravagant prison sentences for actions taken in defense of the environment and planet. They have the unfortunate distinction of serving the longest prison sentences ever handed out to environmental prisoners in the United States. Every June 11th, individuals from all over the world come together to show solidarity and collectively remember Marie, Eric and countless others currently locked away in prison who continue to struggle from the inside.

Through a series of speakers and short films we will learn about Marie & Eric’s cases, and examine the strategies used by the government to target these social movements and imprison such inspiring activists. We will consider how these tactics, far from being uniquely used against the animal and environmental movements, in fact have long been tools aimed against radical communities in general. Finally, we’ll discuss what it really takes and means to do long-term prisoner support.

Speakers will include:

Kiilu Nyasha, a revolutionary journalist, prison and death penalty abolitionist, and 45-year supporter of political prisoners

Jake Conroy, former political prisoner, SHAC 7

Eric and Marie each have over a decade left of their sentences, while countless other political prisoners already have decades of time under their belts. This means we have years of work ahead of us! Come out and show your support for them, and learn how you can get involved.

This event is a fundraiser for Eric & Marie’s support funds.
