On the night of Monday, April 11, a demonstration in Montreal in response to the second police killing in under two weeks attacked the SPVM. Sandy Tarzan Michel, an Anishinabe man, was murdered by police on the anishnabeg reserve in Lac Simon, Quebec, last Wednesday, April 6. Police shot him several times after running him over with a police cruiser. Sandy’s nineteen year-old brother was also assassinated by police in Lac-Simon in 2009.

Rage Against the Police in Quebec

 

April 2016, Montreal cops murdered Jean-Pierre Bony by shooting him with bullet to the head, for allegedly fleeing a drug raid.

Jean-Pierre was unarmed. His community took to the streets to express their rage. People attacked a police station and set several vehicles aflame.

Later that week, police in the indigenous community of Lac-Simon murdered Sandy Michel, a 25 year old man, whose brother was also killed by cops.Last night, people in Montreal protested this latest killing. Montreal police attacked the crowd with tear gas and assaulted protesters.

Augustus In Vancouver: A Non-Event

Another shitty, rainy day in the post-industrial, gentrified shit-hole city of Vancouver.

About 25 or so random people gather at the south-east corner if Dunsmuir and Granville. Confusion and apprehension dominates the mood. The large group that said on social media they would be gathered to confront Augustus Sol Invictus and his group of supporters failed to materialize. Augustus’ inability to get across the border, the cancellation of his “free speech rally”, the rain and “because Vancouver” are all possible explanations.

Canada : Début d’étude des caméras corporelles pour la police de Montréal

Tandis qu’aux États-Unis 95% des 70s plus grands corps policiers municipaux du pays a décidé de doter leurs agents de ces appareils pour enregistrer leurs interventions, la Ville de Montréal mène actuellement un appel d’information auprès des fournisseurs de caméras corporelles. Les entreprises avaient jusqu’à la semaine dernière pour répondre à une soixantaine de questions que la métropole se pose au sujet de cette nouvelle technologie. La métropole veut également faire l’essai des appareils pour les tester pendant un mois en laboratoire puis mener un projet-pilote sur le terrain en équipant jusqu’à 50 agents de caméras corporelles. Une consultation publique doit avoir lieu à la fin de cette période d’essai, soit à l’automne 2016. Montréal veut évaluer l’achat de 3000 caméras corporelles.
