mappipe2

VANCOUVER – Activists installed a “pipeline” early this moring in front of the downtown offices of McElhanney mapping. The adhoc group says the company was tageted for its part in surveying for the controversial Kinder Morgan pipeline expansion plan on Burnaby Mountain.

The group erected a pvc pipeline, complete with dripping ‘bitumen’ and notices to “Get off Burnaby Mountain.”

“Early this morning the entrance to McElhanney’s downtown Vancouver office was blockaded. The doors were locked, a “bitumen pipeline” blocked the stairs and posters were pasted. Christopher Thunder was arrested on August 20, 2014, (and is still incarcierated) while he was waiting for a ride to Hamilton, so he could catch the bus to the People’s Social Forum where he was invited to participante in the People of Colour and Native Youth delegation. Chris was arrested for an alledged breach because at that moment it is alledged that he was not with his sureties. Chris has remained in jail since this unlucky event, where he was clearly targeted by the OPP.

HUNDREDS OF MINK SET FREE AT QUEBEC FUR FARM

Canada_Quebec_Aug14

According to media reports, during the night of August 19-20, hundreds of mink, perhaps as many as 3000, were released from cages at the Visons J.N.J. fur farm (1285 6e Rang) in Saint-Jude, Quebec.

In early August, the Montreal SPCA revealed that inspectors had found foxes and mink at the farm suffering from serious injuries and illness, including broken bones, broken teeth, eye and ear infections, and dehydration. Several animals were subsequently euthanized. The Montreal SPCA has asked the Ministry of Forests, Fauna and Parks to remove the animals from the fur farm, and that criminal charges be filed. The owner of the farm, Jean-Luc Rodier, has previous convictions for animal cruelty. (information from FinalNail.com)
