International Pizza Punk Day (London)

IPPD.logo_

London Chapters details to be announced.  The usual score:  bring toppings for the making of vegan pizzas, we provide the bases and the tomato sauce, all spread out on a table, make the pizza of your desires a reality and we bake it up for you!  Last year’s South London Chapter event was a roaring success at the Grosvenor and I’m looking for a suitable venue to make this a year to remember as well.

NEVER AGAIN SLAVES…..

Nikos Romanos

Never again slaves, never again with downcast eyes, never again alone; forever on the opposite riverbank, forever insurrectionalists and profane, forever on the path of free humans; forever, do you hear me?
These are the words of Anarchist Nikos Romanos, imprisoned in Athens, Greece for rebelling against the same system that suffocates and humiliates us all in this open prison called democracy. We could have begun this leaflet instead by saying that as we write Nikos is in hospital slipping into a coma, on hunger strike since November 10. That the prison authorities decided to completely ignore his ‘eligibility by law’ for educational day release in order to attend classes at an Athens university. That he is a conscious rebel, an anarchist, who learned the true meaning of power in 2008 at the age of fifteen when his friend Alexis Grigoropoulos died in his arms, shot in the heart by marauding police in a small street of Athens, leading to a month of mass insurrections all over Greece. That one of his comrades, Yannis Michailidis, has now joined him in hunger strike in solidarity and is also reaching a serious condition.

Struggle Against Any State Machination.
The nation-wide strike on May 5th 2010 against the 1st memorandum will go down in the history of social/class struggle as one of the most massive and combative demonstrations, during which up to half a million protesters clashed for several hours with, the riot police in Syntagma Square, in front of the greek parliament, determined to resits against the plans of the local and international domination. The signing of gradual transition to the contemporary “State of Emergency”, in this suffocating context of crisis and social plunder.

WHAT IS THE CASSA ANTIREPRESSIONE DELLE ALPI OCCIDENTALI [Western Alps Anti-repression Fund]?

tumblr_lr5vpmPkVQ1qa9b8ro1_400

The Cassa AntiRepressione delle Alpi Occidentali was born in autumn 2000 with the aim of coordinating fundraising activities between anarchist realities and individualities of the Alps and the Piedmont plains, activities destined to anti-repression interventions and to expressions of solidarity with the prisoners who have contacts, friendships and affinities with the realities and individualities involved. The prerequisites that led to this initiative, and which have remained intact up to this day, are the necessity of constantly engaging in the resistance against the blows unleashed by repression and the necessity of ensuring that those who end up in prison or are subjected to other restrictive measures continue to have the support of groups and individuals who know about the prison system and don’t consider the Law as a value in itself. We are well aware that activities of resistance are not sufficient, and we’ve never thought of relegating our tensions against a society that produces laws and prison bars to charity work; however we think that activities of resistance are inseparable from other practices and methods that share the same goals and are set against the same enemies.

On Saturday 29 late afternoon some comrades came out in answer to a call for a demo/gathering in the centre of Brixton, south London, for Nikos Romanos. Two banners, ‘Never again slaves, never again with downcast eyes! Solidarity with anarchist N. Romanos on hunger strike since 10.11.14’ and encircled A; … and ‘Freedom will blossom from the ashes of the prison’ and encircled A, were rigged up at the central junction, highly visible to all the people in the streets at the time, as well as those in passing buses and cars in the busy main road.
