Reclaim Turtle Island

Reclaim Turtle Island is a grassroots radical media project that works to develop resources to build capacity for Indigenous sovereigntist and anticolonial struggles in Turtle Island. They have already co-produced one of the projects with Submedia. They are fundraising right now to produce multiple short films that will highlight indigenous resistance all across the continent. Mi’kmaq Warriors and Anishnabek Land Defender Visit Unist’ot’en

Resistance to the un-natural gas industry runs coast to coast, with many communities united in solidarity on this crucial issue. Representatives from two of those communities met face to face on the front lines, when members of the Mi’kmaq Warrior Society made a visit to their comrades at the Unist’ot’en Camp this January.

What’s happening? What should we do? What happens next?

WORK HAS STARTED ON THE PIPELINE ROUTE

It’s not clear exactly how much work has been done on the Pacific Trail and Enbridge Northern Gateway pipeline route. Most likely they are clearing trees and brush. Worst case: They are digging trenches and laying pipe already. The info from Unis’tot’en Camp says the work is starting from the east and west and it will meet the indigenous blockade in the middle.<a

Solidarity With Mikmaq Warriors!

While the Mikmaq anti-fracking struggle on the east coast has subsided for the time being (“SWN Resources Canada is ending its exploration work, but will return in 2015″), the RCMPigs and other state institutions are doing their best punish the Warriors and others who have engaged in this proud resistance. Continued actions, letters, fundraisers and other solidarity efforts are important in the wake of repression.

Government officials shook over Straight’s “sabotage” article

Government officials are clearly shook over the recent article published by Vancouver’s Georgia Straight concerning potential sabotage against the Enbridge pipeline.   That article, reposted on Warrior Publications, was entitled “Activists plot how to block new pipelines in BC.”   Although there have been many calls made for civil disobedience, this is one of the first major public discussions about the potential for sabotage actions against pipeline construction.
