–Introduction to Issue 25

Hello interested readers, activists, fellow revolutionaries, friends and comrades, to issue 25. Yes, it has been over a year since our last issue, 4sm 24, came out in Spring of 2014. We have had several obstacles and problems to deal with. Our printers, good movement activists and great professional printers, have had their own struggles with the state, but are now back in operation. Most hard copy subscribers are receiving both issues 24 and 25 in this mailing.

Canada: ALF Visits Ontario Fur Farm

ALF

See video (more footage coming soon) from the Ontario fur farms visited by the ALF here: https://vid.me/8Nlr

Over the summer of 2015 we visited and video recorded Willow Pond Mink Farm at 105 Maple Grove Road in Scottland, ON. We witnessed injured mink with gaping wounds crammed into small cages that were covered in dirt and feces. The ground in the facility was also caked in feces. There were strong pungent fumes of urine and feces in the air. The animals here had no access to water. The farm has no fence and no security cameras. There is a large waste container at the rear of the farm.

Two moments of oil railway sabotage in Montreal

flame

The infrastructures of State and capital continue to spread their tentacles, seeking to accelerate the extraction and transportation of resources to the market. The vast territory that is the Canadian North, often sparsely populated due in large part to the displacement, isolation, and genocide of indigenous peoples, is an immense source of profit; oil, gas, forestry, hydro-dams, uranium mines, etc. Various monstrous infrastructural expansion projects are currently trying to connect the Alberta Tar Sands through pipelines along the St. Lawrence river to the Atlantic. These projects entail expanding and constructing new infrastructure such as ports, rail lines, and highways all along this route on colonized territories.

ANOTHER ONTARIO FUR FARM RAIDED! (Canada)

Ontario Provincial Police have reported that approx. 300 mink were freed from cages at a fur farm in Guelph/Eramosa Township, Ontario overnight July 30-31. The farm is not identified, but may be the Millbank Fur Farm (5225 Jones Baseline Road).

This is the third fur farm raid in southern Ontario in recent months. In early July, close to 7,000 mink were released from cages at a farm in St. Marys. At the end of May, 1,500+ mink were freed at another St. Marys fur farm.
