Marius Mason Transferred to the SHU! Please Write Him a Letter!
On June 16th, we received notification from Marius that he has been transferred to the SHU—or Special Housing Unit, also known as solitary confinement—for, we believe, 30 days as a result of an alleged violation of prison disciplinary rules. We still do not know the basis of these allegations, but we believe they involve a violation of his right to counsel. At this point, Marius does not have all of his property in the SHU, and his normal phone privileges and all e-mail privileges have been suspended. Marius’s lawyer, Moira Meltzer-Cohen, has not yet received the incident report, but based on what she has has heard from prison officials, she believes the disciplinary action to be unjust.

coal derailment in solidarity with imprisoned anarchists
Heavy rains in the lower plains of the muddy Missouri river valley are washing out roads and flooding the low bases of the bluffs. All month long we’ve helped the work along by further weakening multiple spots of the BNSF tracks heavily traveled by southbound coal trains. Our reward came quicker than expected when reports of 31 coal cars derailed in a stretch of the Mace Creek region of northwest Missouri. BNSF spokespeople have said part of the track was removed and will impact rail traffic for days. This is not enough.

Solidarity from Chicago
During the opening festivities for Chicago’s new “606 Trail,” a $95 million project mirroring New York’s extravagant High Line, some locals took advantage of the day’s events to make a statement about Marius Mason, a prisoner of the U.S.’s “Green Scare” – a mass roundup of environmental activists – and about June 11, the International Day of Solidarity with Long-Term Anarchist Prisoners.

June 11th Statement By Marius Mason
Solidarity and greetings to you all! Thank you for coming together to celebrate our respected comrade’s regained freedom, as well as the many transitions that have taken place this past year. First and foremost, I’d like to wish both Eric and Jenny every possible happiness, and to express how grateful I am to their dedicated and capable legal team. This kind of victory should be savored and taken to heart as a lesson in solidarity and perseverance. While it’s a travesty that Eric lost 9 ½ years of his life unjustly, still, despite a social climate of hysteria and hype over domestic terrorism, our movement was able to come together to support Eric and to keep fighting until he was returned to his family and loved ones. We have to be in this struggle for the long haul, but this important win proves that we can make change when we remain committed.

In Melbourne on the night of June 13 a banner was hung for the June 13 International Day of Solidarity with Anarchists Facing Persecution from the Spanish state. The banner was hung from a cyclone fence that directly faces busy Punt Rd in Richmond, right near Richmond station and not far from the MCG sports ground.

Greece: Eco-Resistance Solidarity Messages Cover Athens Ahead of June 11 Anarchist Gathering
Several banners were placed in central areas of Athens ahead of the anarchist gathering to be held on Thursday evening, June 11th, at Voutie Park in the Athens neighbourhood of Ano Petralona. With slogans in different languages, reference was made to the struggles against the construction of the TAV Lyon-Turin high-speed rail project, in the Susa Valley and the village of Chiomonte, and against the installation of the MUOS military telecommunications system on Sicily; in defense of the Hambach Forest in Germany, threatened by devastation caused by lignite mining (during the gathering of June 11th, comrades will provide updates on this fight); and in solidarity with long-term ecoanarchist prisoner Marco Camenisch, whose request for conditional release was once again rejected by the Swiss authorities, and with Marius Jacob Mason, trans anarchist prisoner in the US.
