SHAC Ends: We Made History… The Future is Ours

SHAC

SHAC (Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty) has been the biggest and most effective grassroots animal rights campaign the world has ever seen. Since we started, thousands of people across the globe have taken up the fight to close down Europe’s largest animal testing laboratory; HLS (Huntingdon Life Sciences).

Numerous undercover investigations have revealed the horrors taking place within the lab – animals being poisoned, primates being cut open without anaesthetic, puppies being punched in the face. HLS has become synonymous with cruelty and murder.

The National Weekend of Action Against the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act (AETA) entails talks, workshops, film viewings, protests, etc. to educate the public about federal laws that specifically target animal advocates whose work attempts to stop a person or company from profiting from the use of nonhuman animals (which could include nearly all types of non-reformist activism, from protests to liberatory actions).

Activists “Shut Down” Zoo in the Country of Georgia to Protest Animal Cruelty

On the night of 2nd of August animal liberation activists closed all the six gates of Batumi zoo with chains and locks. They also hanged the banner ‘Closed for Animal Cruelty’ on the fence of the enterprise. It was an action within the bounds of Shut ‘Em Down perpetual campaign.

This is a third action of the campaign in Georgia. Previously in Tbilisi the chain meat supermarket was closed in the middle of the day while being functioning and the ‘Salamander’ shoe shop was shut down on the New Year’s night. Both times activists used bicycle locks in their work.

Animal Rights Activists Smash Star Grocery Windows

Two FBI agents visited Star Groceryon Claremont Avenue on Monday to investigate a broken window the government believes was smashed by animal rights activists.

The large plate glass window of the market, which has been run by the Pappas family since 1922, was smashed around 2 a.m. on Sunday, July 27, according to Nick Pappas, the store’s owner. He wasn’t aware of the animal rights connection until the FBI contacted him a few days later, he said.

“They told us we were attacked,” said Pappas. “We didn’t know. We thought it was vandalism, a couple of broken windows.”
