Eco-Prisoner Rebecca Rubin Released!

Rebecca Rubin has been released and moved into a halfway house! Sentenced in 2014 to five years in federal prison for numerous Earth Liberation Front and Animal Liberation Front actions—including the arsons of Vail Ski Resort and US Forest Industries, as well as liberating horses from and burning down BLM Wild Horse Facilities in California and Oregon—Rebecca is out of prison almost a year and a half before an expected release date of September, 2017. Prisoner letter writing workshop – Sunday 10th April 2016 2-6pm. In support of ELF and ALF prisoner Rebecca Rubin, and to Gaël, in prison for 6 months following Nantes demonstration against the El Khomri Law [Labour Minister]

Since the month of January prisoner letter writing workshops have taken place at the Le Kiosque [Marseille], the first occasion for the day of solidarity with trans prisoners, then in support of Osman Evcan, in prison since 30 years old and begins his 4th hunger strike to receive vegan meals, for himself and all prisoners.

Rebecca Rubin Has Been Transferred

Rebecca Rubin has been transferred again. Please send Rebecca Rubin a letter or note of encouragement, being transferred can be quite jarring and it’s good for her to hear that people are keeping up with her. Rebecca was recently sentenced 5 years for her participation in multiple Earth Liberation Front actions that occurred between 1996 and 2001.

Rebecca Rubin sentenced to 5 years for ALF & ELF arsons

After 7 years on the run, an ALF saboteur is sentenced for freeing horses, more.

After turning herself in in 2012 following 7 years on the run, and pleading guilty last October, this week Rebecca Rubin was sentenced to 5 years in federal prison. The sentence is much less than the 7.5 years the government was requesting.

The term “Green Scare,” alluding to the Red Scare of the 1940s and ’50s, refers to legal and extralegal actions taken by the U.S. government against environmental and animal rights activists. Like the Red Scare, the Green Scare uses new laws and new arms of the state to harshly punish a few individuals in order to repress an entire movement.

United States Government Submits Sentencing Brief for Rebecca Rubin (Operation Backfire)

Today, the United States government submitted its sentencing brief in regards to “Operation Backfire” defendant Rebecca Rubin. Given that Rubin entered a non-cooperating plea agreement, the state is asking for a sentence of 90 months, seven and a half years. For actions taken on behalf of the Earth and its human and non-human inhabitants, we in NYC ABC find this disgusting. Rebecca should be free, back with her family and loved ones!

Rebecca Rubin plead guilty to taking part in Earth Liberation Front actions, including actions taken against Bio-Devices in California; U.S. Forest Products in Oregon; and the Vail Ski Resort in Colorado. She also participated in the liberation of horses and the arson of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Wild Horse Facilities in Litchfield, California and Burns, Oregon.

Rubin is scheduled to appear in court for sentencing on Monday, January 27th. If you are in or near Portland, Oregon, please consider showing your support.
