For a moment there during the L.A. Riots there was jubilation as people showed they could take the streets back from the police, if only for a night or two. Poor people were able to attain things they could otherwise never afford. Capitalism’s excess products that forever waste away in the stores to be bought or always to be replaced by another on the shelf were liberated for use or for poor people to sell at swap meets for much more reasonable prices. Reporters on the scene were alarmed to see looters smiling and laughing. What isn’t fun about liberating free stuff from overpriced stores? People felt free. The crowd turning over and setting on fire the police car downtown was laughing, cheering and howling because they were having a blast and it was a crowd of mothers and their children, every race and age and every kind of folk you’d meet in this diverse city.

There are moments when life seems entirely impossible. All the crazy dreams of rebellion disappear. The desire to revolt against the society of the civilized is lost to futility, the open but empty hand. All of the late-night laughter filled conversations, the meanderings and wanderings of those intoxicated with thoughts of adventure, begin to seem naive and empty. One comes to the conclusion that one is accomplishing nothing: destruction and creation seem equally without attraction. One abandons one’s own imagination and returns to the old trap of fear. The existential idiot occupies one’s head.

Il testo che qui pubblichiamo è la sbobinatura di una conferenza sul carcere – tenutasi nel marzo 1993 presso il Laboratorio anarchico di via Paglietta a Bologna – già pubblicata nel libro Affinità e organizzazione informale delle Edizioni Anarchismo. Tale conferenza viene qui ripresentata con poche correzioni dell’autore e una sua Nota introduttiva scritta nel carcere di Rebibbia, dove attualmente [1997] si trova prigioniero insieme a molti altri anarchici.

El legado de Pinochet como narcotraficante no ha sido demasiado difundido, algo que no sorprende demasiado considerando el monopolio ultraderechista de los medios de información. Y es que al fascismo no le molesta que Pinochet haya sido un dictador, un asesino y un genocida, pero si que haya sido un ladrón que desfalcó al Estado y más aún un narcotraficante. Ya que eso acaba con su argumento de que “fue un héroe que rescató al país”. El objetivo, más allá de enriquecerse ilegalmente, sigue el mismo principio de las erradicaciones de las poblaciones hacia la periferia de Santiago: Aislar y destrozar a los sectores juveniles de la sociedad, bastiones históricos de la lucha contra la Dictadura. GRAPO members arrested in 2007
The First of October Anti-fascist Resistance Groups (GRAPO) were formed in the summer of 1975. At that time twenty members of the Communist Party of Spain (reconstituted) -PCE(r)-, underground party formed five months before, carried out their first armed action against the fascist security forces. On 2nd August 1975 a couple of Civil Guard members (a repressive military police force) were shot in the centre of Madrid. One of them was dead and another one seriously injured. It was the first strike back of GRAPO against the wave of fascist-inspired terror known as the summer of terror.

Vor wenigen Wochen erklärte die deutsche Bundeskanzlerin Merkel, Deutschland sei ein freundliches Land, das Menschen willkommen heiße, welche vor Kriegen und politischer Verfolgung flüchteten. Kaum ausgesprochen, reagiert die ganz große Koalition aus CDU, SPD und – wie sollte es anders sein – den Grünen, angesichts des Umstandes, dass viele tausende Menschen dieses Kanzlerinnenwort für bare Münze nahmen und kamen, mit einem Gesetzes- und Maßnahmenpaket, welches die wohl schärfste Einschränkung elementarster Menschenrechte für Flüchtlinge seit dem Jahr 1993,- seinerseits wurde faktisch das Asylrecht in der BRD abgeschafft – , darstellt.
Was meint Freiheit ?
In einer idealtypischen Vorstellung ist dort Freiheit existent, wo unser Leben keiner Rechtfertigung durch Erfolg oder irgend etwas sonst benötigt, dort wo der Mensch keiner Macht außerhalb seiner selbst unterworfen ist. Einerseits sprechen wir also von der ‘Freiheit von’ etwas; andererseits ist die ‘Freiheit zu’ etwas fast schon wichtiger. Die Freiheit zu leben, in Beziehung zu und mit anderen Menschen, ohne manipuliert zu werden, ohne einen unterdrückerischen Apparat fürchten zu müssen, spontan, glücklich; sicherlich nicht immer, das Leben wird niemals ein Ponyhof sein, aber zu einer positiven Freiheit ist der Mensch geboren und sucht sie ein Leben lang.
Die Freiheit ist das Verbrechen!
